“The Museum of Curious Minds” is the latest calendar offering from Hactl. A collection of surprising paintings and artworks appears before our eyes as we flip through the 2024 Hactl calendar — instantly transporting us to a mysterious art gallery, and awakening the curiosity buried deep in our souls. In addition to marking the important dates and events of the year, this newest calendar presents a collection of twelve unique artworks, and seeks to inspire us to observe our surroundings, and appreciate in wonder every little thing in our ordinary lives, with curiosity and an open heart.
Decorated with irregular geometric patterns in bright and lively colours, and featuring creative artworks, this mini art gallery is open all year round. The January page features a centrepiece of flowers blooming in vibrant colours, set against a background of purple, orange and black — inviting viewers to welcome the New Year with energy. The December page, by contrast, presents an abstract acrylic painting, providing a glimpse of the busy SuperTerminal 1 while bringing a perfect end to the year.
This collection of artworks is as diverse as the four seasons. Everything is printed on environmentally-friendly paper using soy ink — reflecting Hactl’s commitment to protecting the environment, and its dedication to fulfilling corporate social responsibility, while reminding visitors to this mini art museum about the connection between art and nature.
The collection of twelve painting and artworks aims to provoke meaningful conversation. It has been created by twelve artists from three non-profit organisations: Blossom Minds, which empowers young people with special educational needs (SENs) by providing opportunities to explore and develop their skills through flower arranging; St. James’ Settlement which provides diverse support services to the community; and New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association, which promotes holistic wellness and social inclusion of people recovering from mental illness. The artists express their feelings and thoughts, and infuse their works with liveliness through diverse forms, media and materials.
It’s said that the most important things can only be felt by the heart. In this museum of curiosity, we all are creators freed from the strictures of reality. Together, we explore the possibility and richness of social diversity and inclusivity, and nurture a sense of human connection in the community.
As the quote on the October page says: “Art is a tool that can variously help to inspire, console, redeem, guide, comfort, expand and reawaken us.” As we bid farewell to the year 2023, let us embark on a new journey in 2024 with an open heart, renewed curiosity, embrace and appreciate every precious moment.
